I plan to do a “Random Wednesday: Likes & Dislikes” post every Wednesday, but last night I spent the entire night hanging out with Donny and nothing else got done. It was perfect! Who cares if I’m a day late, right? On to my random likes and dislikes for this week…

1. I am not ashamed to admit that I am head over heels for Edward Cullen. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m obsessed, but I couldn’t help but get sucked into Twilight (the first book & movie of the series) when I first saw it. I usually do not care for fantasy/sci-fi books or movies, but my curiosity got the best of me and I rented Twilight as soon as it was released to DVD. Much to my surprise, I absolutely LOVED it! I immediately told my mom (who does usually like fantasy/sci-fi stuff) to watch it and she had the same reaction as I did. She took it one step further and went out and bought all of the books and finished them within a week or so! She gave the books to me and I read Twilight even though I had already seen the movie and was impressed with how well-done the movie was. I just finished reading the 2nd book of the series, New Moon in preparation for the movie premier on November 20. My mom and I have tickets to go see a double feature of Twilight followed by New Moon at midnight next week and I can’t wait!

2. I like that the holiday season is fast approaching. I love the holidays and all that they entail. I love the time spent with family, the good food, the shopping. I love the smells, the lights, and the warm, cheery feeling that the holiday decorations give me. And it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t admit that I LOVE the time off work :)
3. I love our church. Along with a group of good friends, Donny and I started going to the Vineyard Westside about this time last year when our previous church decided to dissolve. For about 2-1/2 years prior to going to Vineyard Westside, Donny and I served on the leadership team of a church plant called Motion that met at Delhi Middle School. Our team managed to get the church off the ground and we enjoyed some good spurts of momentum, but a series of unfortunate events eventually led us to the decision to dissolve. Although I have to admit that I’m glad the days of setting up and tearing down church week after week are over, I am very thankful for the experience we gained and the friends we made along the way.
In January, Donny and I joined one of the life groups (small groups) at VWS and that has been one of the best decisions we have ever made. We have been blessed with great new friends and awesome opportunities to serve God. Donny went on his first “real” mission trip to Hondurus back in April and I am so proud of him for taking that step of faith. I have been able to use my gifts by serving on the Creative Team and doing fun things like the Family Photo Day to raise money for our Africa missions. I am very thankful that God led us to VWS and I’m excited to see what God has in store for the future of the church :)

4. Although I’m not a huge meat eater and spent several years as a vegetarian, I love a good bowl of chili. And now is the perfect season for some good, warm comfort food! I tried my co-worker’s recipe and made a huge pot of chili the other day and it was delicious! It definitely hit the spot and after eating it for a couple of days, I still had a decent amount left over to freeze.
5. This is so dumb, but oh so hilarious at the same time. Ryan convinced us to download the SmackTalk! app on my iPhone. This app provides 4 animals (a dog, hamster, kitten, and chihuahua) that will repeat anything you say in their respective squeaky, hilarious voices. At $.99, it is the cheapest entertainment I’ve ever purchased!
Dislikes:
1. Camera equipment fail! At our wedding on Saturday our beloved Canon 70-200mm f2.8L zoom lens all of a sudden would not focus automatically or manually. We have never had a problem with this lens and it is so frustrating when something like this happens…especially when you are shooting a wedding and don’t have time to try and figure out what the problem is right then and there. Thank goodness for backup equipment!
2. Grocery shopping. I always have and probably always will despise grocery shopping. I don’t really know why, I just do. I guess if I’m going to spend a chunk of time and a chunk of money somewhere, the grocery store is not on the top of the list. Especially when I have to spend that chunk of time on food that will require another chunk of time to actually cook. I sound like such a good housewife, huh? Last week we were so low on food that poor Donny had to eat PB&J on stale bread for dinner while I ate the last of the frozen waffles. Don’t worry – he survived.
3. I’m getting sick of people asking if I am really pregnant or telling me to eat more. Thank goodness for my regular OB appointments where I am assured that everything is going great, or I would probably be freaking out and thinking something was wrong by now. Just because I’m not showing as much as you think I should be at this point in my pregnancy does not give you permission to ask dumb questions people! Every woman is different and I can pretty much guarantee that within the next couple of weeks, it will be quite obvious to everyone that I really am pregnant because the baby doubles in size from week 16 to week 20 :)
